As a general rule, you should consider the following as the minimum basic rules when using you treadmill:

  • Always dress correctly, although you should wear lose non-restrictive clothing, make sure you don’t wear anything which might be get could in any moving parts.
  • If you fold your treadmill after use take care with folding away and when getting your treadmill ready to use again – get someone to help if you find it difficult.
  • ALWAYS use any safety devices which were supplied with your machine. At the very minimum most treadmill have a device which you attach to yourself when running – if you slip or slow down the device pulls away form the control panel of the machine and stops it immediately- this is a VERY important device and should always be used, even if you have other people around when using your treadmill.
  • If you’re just starting out it’s a good idea to seek advice from a trainer or other qualified health professional before starting your program.
  • If you have motorised treadmill always check the mains cable is in good condition before you use it – if you move the treadmill ensure the cable is not caught under the treadmill or placed where anyone can trip over it.
